Course Code and Name: MSJ11431 Documentary Production

Project Name: Documentary Video

Title: Cinemar Kotha

Project Date: Fall 2021

Project Description: It was anticipated that the students would apply the acquired proficiencies from the instructional sessions towards the development of a documentary film. This constituted the final and singular task for the course. The objective of the present inquiry was to produce a documentary that focused on the performance of a female actor in a cinematic production. The collation of information has been successfully amalgamated and the resultant documentary has been meticulously fashioned in the form of a cogent and captivating narrative.

Project Justification: In this project, students were expected to learn how to use the camera and make compositions practically. In this project I tried to show how Bangladeshi female actor plays vital role in the society.

1.

It usually takes a lot of effort and study to make a documentary. I think I have taken a little extra time to make a documentary than others because the ones I interviewed usually have a hard time getting a schedule, but I believe if I could interview a few more directors and one or two heroes, it would have been better. I think my argument could have been better if I could have interviewed some of the heroines. The central part of my documentary is that it had a lot of information; the most vital point was the synchronization and inserting footage in the right place. Also, I received the answer the way I wanted, which helped me a lot to prove my documentary, and I believe the most vital part of my documentary was the argument I successfully proved.

What modalities are you going to follow?
80 Percent analyse, and 20 percent reveal

Who is your audience?
The quality of our mainstream cinema Is decreasing, which is an alarming sign as we all know cinema is a mass medium from which people learn and get ideas. And their people are constantly getting the wrong messages from our mainstream cinema

The target audience is the young generation Aged 20 to 40. So, basically, my target audience is Young People. Who are the consumers and young filmmakers so that cinema as a medium gets its salvation? To inspire young filmmakers to make good cinema and a young audience to avoid such misleading information given by the cinema. So that young people don’t take the wrong messages from our Mainstream cinema.

Each Group member has a role in the production.
  1. Director of the Documentary
Sifat Nusrat

I did all kinds of research work, including book analysis, the book finds out, watching and analyzing various mainstream movies, extracting footage, contacting the people I will interview, fixing the date of their interview, and all the writing work and submitting all assignments. Also, I have done the Production Diary and managed the budget by myself.

2. Cinematographer and Postproduction

Gopal Basak
He is my only group member and has done the most essential part of the documentary Gopal has handled the Camera along with the cinematography and also the postproduction.

Since my job was not so easy, I had to spend a lot of time in contact with Sir and the director; although I could not interview any actress or actor, I contacted a lot of people like Jaya Ahsan, Bandhan, Rozina, Sabana, Siam, Chanchal Chowdhury etc. However, they all got me, but in the reality of their work, many could not even give me time, but I also interviewed Amitabh Reza Sir, one of the directors, but did not use it because I thought it did not go with my argument,

so I have left out the whole footage.

In production, I have used One Camera with the required Lens, One Tripod and Lapel, nothing else.
Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effect, Adobe Audition

Learning and Outcome (Self-Reflection)

I had an opportunity to create a documentary for this class, and as director, I was in charge of overseeing the entire cast and crew. I conducted interviews with my professors and film experts to learn more about the craft of making documentaries. As a result, I learned a lot about the research, pre-production, filming, and post-production phases of making a documentary. As the director, it was my job to oversee every part of the production, from managing the cast and staff to making sure that the documentary's objectives were met. Strong leadership abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and successful teamwork were all required for this.
